The idea is that your pitch shouldn\u2019t last longer than the time it takes your <a href=\"https:\/\/kylas.io\/sales-strategy\/sales-prospecting-strategies\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><u>prospect<\/u><\/a> to get from the ground floor to his\/her floor (assuming the hypothetical situation that you are both in his office building, and you\u2019re selling your product to him on his way up). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-white-color has-text-color\">.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">This gives you about 30 seconds to get your point across and create enough intrigue that they want to keep talking to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Of course, you won\u2019t be in an actual elevator \u2013 this technique helps you keep your pitch short and sweet so you can hold all of your prospect\u2019s attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"htoc-2-targeted-to-whom-you-re-talking-to\" style=\"font-size:22px\">2. <strong>Targeted to Whom You\u2019re Talking To<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Your prospect should feel understood and should find you relatable when you speak \u2013 if they can\u2019t relate to what you\u2019re saying, they\u2019re going to lose interest in just a few seconds. (Yes, you\u2019re still sticking to one-sentence answers)<br>What question would you like to ask your prospect? Or what would you like the next step to be?<\/p>\n\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"htoc-3-start-creating-a-conversation\" style=\"font-size:22px\"><strong>3. Start Creating a Conversation<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Ever had an imaginary conversation? Now\u2019s a good time to have your first one;&nbsp;believe&nbsp;it or not, this is a <a href=\"https:\/\/kylas.io\/sales-effectiveness\/effective-sales-techniques-backed-by-science\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><u>sales technique<\/u><\/a> you need.&nbsp;Take your answers from your notepad and turn them into&nbsp;a story&nbsp;&#8211; you can write it down.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">A good way to start is&nbsp;with a question about your prospect\u2019s pain points, stemming from your answer to the question \u2018<em>What are your prospect\u2019s pain points that your product solves?<\/em>\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Then string together the answers to the remaining questions in a way that sounds natural and conversational. This is when you include rhetorical questions, keep&nbsp;a&nbsp;warm tone and use colloquial words or industry-specific words. The more relatable and warmer&nbsp;your pitch, the more receptive your prospect will be to it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Keep only about 20% scope for improvisation \u2013 you don\u2019t want to learn the sales script so thoroughly that you get lost if you forget a word, but you also don\u2019t want to leave everything up to the last second.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"htoc-4-practice-practice-practice\" style=\"font-size:22px\">4. <strong>Practice, Practice, Practice<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Start by standing in front of the mirror and pitching to yourself. I\u2019m a sales professional, not a theatre professional.
